- Slash - From the Guitar God himself comes one of the best autobiographies I've ever had the opportunity to read. While I have a weird fascination with drug addictions the the drug culture in general, Slash's autobiography fulfilled ever requirement I have in a book. It was extremely well written, insightful, self-analytical and well, crazy. Reading the book made me fall in love with him even more.
- Kitchen Confidential
- The Bronze Horseman - This book is probably one of the most epic romances of all time. It says a lot when the second I finish reading a book, I immediately turn to page one and read the entire book again (it's NOT a short book either). Every girl has a soft spot for love and romance, but this book was so full of angst and tension that I often found myself still reading at 7:00 am, even though I had work in five hours. The book was beautifully written and very easily detailed the story of Tatiana and Alexander. I felt connected to the characters, especially Tatiana since the majority of the book was written from her perspective. It has been many years since I've cried because of a book, but this one opened the floodgates. Favorite book of all time perhaps?
- Tatiana and Alexander
- Eat, Pray, Love - In general, EPL was a good book. The writing was clever, witty and insightful. Even though the middle of the book was the slowest, I felt that it was the most influential. Spirituality has always been something people strive for, including myself. Everyone wants to feel like they're apart of something bigger or that life if more meaningful than waking up in the morning and going to work. Life should mean more than that, so I'm thankful that Gilbert detailed her spiritual journey. It's a very much "Girl Power!" book. I did feel that the book ended with a cherry on top, but the only thing that made me think is how jaded I was to want the ending to be bitter rather than happy. What's wrong with happy endings? Are they really that unrealistic? Any book that makes you take a closer look at yourself is a good book...in my book. So kudos to EPL.
I'm moving to South Korea to teach English for an entire year. This blog will (hopefully) provide an outlet for me to write of my travels, nervous breakdowns and experiences of living abroad. I want to remember verbatim the things I experience, so that way...years down the road...I won't ever forget.
Books
I've always loved reading. So, I'm also going to make a list of books I've read while I've lived here in Korea. There hasn't been that many books, especially in comparison to all the movies I've seen. But the books I have read were amazing. One of them even made me cry! Anyway, here they are:
